NCADD Questionaire
National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Questionaire (NCADD)
The following ten questions are part of a 26 question self test designed by the National Council on Alcoholism, a nationwide volunteer group.
Answer the questions with a Yes or No answer, if you feel inclined to answer with “Sometimes” then mark that as a Yes.
Be sure to truthfully answer all questions before reading the scoring section.
1. Can you handle more alcohol now than when you first started to drink?
2. Do you sometimes feel a little guilty about your drinking?
3. Has a family member or close friend ever expressed concern or complained about your drinking?
4. Do you often want to continue drinking after your friends say they have had enough?
5. Have you tried switching brands or drinks, or following different plans to control your drinking?
6. Have you ever had a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) or a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) violation, or any other legal problems related to your drinking?
7. Are you having more financial, work, school, and/or family problems as a result of your drinking?
8. Have you recently noticed that you can’t drink as much as you used to?
9. Do you ever feel depressed or anxious before, during, or after periods of heavy drinking?
10. Have any of your blood relatives ever had a problem with alcohol?
